Pupil Premium at Croft Primary School:
The pupil premium grant is funding to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in state-funded schools in England.
To ensure that pupil premium is focused on effective approaches to raising the educational attainment of disadvantaged pupils, schools must spend their pupil premium grant on evidence-informed activities in line with the 'menu of approaches' set by the Department for Education,
The menu has been developed in line with the EEF’s 3-tiered approach to help school allocate spending across the following 3 areas:
- supporting the high-quality teaching, for example through professional development and recruitment and retention
- providing targeted academic support, such as one-to-one or small group tuition
- tackling non-academic barriers to academic success, such as difficulties with attendance, behaviour and social and emotional wellbeing
The following groups are eligible for Pupil Premium:
- Pupils who are recorded as eligible for free school meals, or have been recorded as eligible in the past 6 years
- Children looked after by local authorities, referred to as looked-after children (LAC)
- Children previously looked after by a local authority or other state care, referred to as previously looked-after children
- Service pupil premium is additional funding for schools with pupils who have parents serving in the armed forces. It is primarily to enable schools to offer pastoral support and help mitigate the negative impact of family mobility or parental deployment.
Schools receive the following grants (2024-2025):
- £1,480 for each pupil in year groups reception to year 6 recorded as Ever 6 FSM
- £2,570 for each looked-after children (LAC) defined in the Children Act 1989 as one who is in the care of, or provided with accommodation by, an English local authority
- £2,570 for each child who has ceased to be looked after by a local authority in England and Wales because of adoption, a special guardianship order, child arrangements order or a residence order
- £340 for each pupil in year groups reception to year 11 recorded as a Service Child or in receipt of a child pension from the Ministry of Defence.

You can apply online and will need:
- your personal details (including national insurance number and date of birth of the parent/carer)
- child’s details in full, including their date of birth and the school they attend.
If you are eligible for free school meals the start date will normally be within two working days of parents contacting us and entitlement being confirmed. Children attending maintained nurseries also qualify for a free school meal as long as they are receiving funded early years education before and after lunch.
