Computing
The intention at Croft Primary is firstly to develop a range of skills to allow children to access the systems we provide to support wider learning using a range of online resources available from reception onwards.
Alongside this educate the children to understand computing in the wider environment and encourage them to develop analytical skills in order to program systems using algorithms and explore ways to debug errors they make.
It is also important to develop and explore the use of graphics and images both still and moving to enhance their communication and the presentation of facts and stories. We will teach the children to use the world wide web safely and responsibly in order to investigate and explore subjects and interests they have. As children move through Croft they will be taught to use an online learning platform where they can collaborate and gain feedback from their work both at home and at school.
All children should know what actions to take if they are presented with anything online they are unhappy with and understand what information is appropriate to share and more importantly not to share on the world wide web or apps they may use on mobile devices. Through homework and classwork using Google Classroom, the children can develop collaboration, and communication through an online learning environment and develop skills needed for home or blended learning in readiness for their next stages in learning.
